Global Healing’s volunteer pediatric and maternal health program addresses critical medical needs in Roatan, Honduras, by providing medical education, patient care, and essential supplies. The program’s skilled volunteers train local providers in best practices, allowing over 80,000 families on the island to receive life-saving and preventive care that’s often difficult to access in resource-limited areas. The program also improves pediatric care through the Roatan Volunteer Pediatric Clinic, raises the standard of care at the Roatan Public Hospital, and promotes exclusive breastfeeding and maternal-infant bonding as recommended by the World Health Organization.
