You’ve ventured in to the land known for all things vine related but maybe you’re someone who is just not that into wine? Don’t worry; Sonoma County has a wealth of breweries to choose from if you prefer hops to grapes.
1. Russian River Brewery
The proverbial feather in Sonoma County’s beer scene is Russian River Brewery. While their Pliny the Elder Double IPA is the most famous beer they offer, they excel in many other beer varietals. Try their sampler and choose your favorite for yourself. Be sure to get there early to snag a seat, as word has gotten out around the country and tourists flock here in droves.
2. Lagunitas Brewing Company
If you’re a fan of West Coast hoppy beers, an afternoon at Lagunitas is perfection. They offer brewery tours, a great selection of beers to choose from (and samplers), as well as food. The brewery also features a stage for live music, so be sure to check their event schedule if you’d like the full experience.
3. Fog Belt Brewery
Relatively new to the scene, the brewers behind Fog Belt have been making beer together since 2004 and they are committed to making Sonoma County the great hop growing nation it once was. Their taproom offers a delicious selection of food, their beer, and local wines and ciders. A great place to grab lunch and sample some of the local flavor.
4. Bear Republic Brewing Company
Bear Republic offers award-winning food and world class, handcrafted ales. Their Brew Pub offers traditional pub food with a twist, and includes the signature burgers, salads, and specialty items. Another family-friendly establishment, Bear Republic offers a relaxed, casual dining atmosphere and a fun departure from your tour of Wine Country.
