Get out and explore Sonoma County in October. With events ranging from live music to harvest fairs, there is no shortage of fun to be had.

October 2 – 4, 2015

Sonoma County Harvest Fair at Sonoma County Fairgrounds – Sonoma, CA
Friday 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday/Sunday 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; $5 per person or free with four non-perishable food items

Traveling to Sonoma County means experiencing wine, food, and culture, so you won’t want to miss the 41st Annual Harvest Fair. The Sonoma County Harvest Fair is one of the biggest celebrations of world class wine, award winning beer, and fine fare in the region. With seemingly countless events including wine tasting, grape stomping, cooking competitions, and more, you won’t run out of things to do during this three-day event.

Stop by the Grand Tasting Pavilion where you can sample wine from over 150 of Sonoma County’s wineries and enjoy a diverse selection of cider and beer. Meander on over to the wine garden to taste port and enjoy wine pairings while listening to live music. Even take a break from wining and dining with chef demonstrations, wine seminars, and a classic car show. Whatever you do, just make sure you clear your calendar for the whole weekend to make room for this great event.

October 2 – 4, 2015

Sonoma Music Festival at the Field of Dreams – Sonoma, CA
Friday/Saturday 4 p.m. – 10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.; $89 per person

The musical lineup for this three-day event is showstopping to say the least. Featuring Chicago, America, Ringo Starr, the Doobie Brothers, and many more, get ready for a rocking weekend full of delicious food and drink. Since the Field of Dreams venue is so close to the Sonoma Plaza, you can pack even more wine country into your weekend by touring historic landmarks, enjoying local shops, and sampling Sonoma’s fantastic food.

Cinq Cépages Grand Tasting at Chateau St. Jean – Kenwood, CA
11 a.m. – 2 p.m.; $75 per person, $60 wine club members

This day centers around the grand debut of the 2012 vintage of Cinq Cépages. Sit and chat with the master winemaker himself, Margo Van Staaveren, as he walks guests through the tasting of the sophisticated Cinq Cépages, a Bordeaux-style wine famous to the vineyard. Don’t forget to tour the spectacular estate while you’re there too! Designed in true European style, there are lavish grounds, vineyards, gardens, and grand architecture to admire.

20th Annual Italian Country Harvest Party at D’argenzio Winery – Santa Rosa, CA
3 p.m. – 9 p.m.; $60 per person, free to wine club members

For 20 years, the D’Argenzio family has been celebrating the harvest season by inviting guests to the vineyard for an afternoon and evening of decadence. This year is no exception. Buy your tickets to this annual event and experience an Italian feast, live music, dancing, an entertaining grape stomping competition, and plenty of wine tasting. Every year, the family releases special wines to sample and take home!

Wine Country Rowing Classic X on the Petaluma River – Petaluma, CA
7 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Free

If you’d like to see a little more of what Sonoma County has to offer, stop by the collegiate rowing classic on the gorgeous Petaluma River. Shop the local food and wine stores in Petaluma and pack a picnic to enjoy while watching the competition from the shores of Shollenberger Park. Petaluma is known for their food, wine, and beer scene, so spending an afternoon in this Northern California city is a great idea for those looking to sample new flavors. Just don’t forget to take the time to explore the Victorian architecture famous to the area in between food and drink stops!

Asti Tour de Vine – Cloverdale, CA
7 a.m. – 4 p.m.; $85 adults, $40 students 14 – 17

Ride some of the most incredible views of the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valleys in the 8th annual Asti Tour de Vine. With race lengths of 25k, 50k, 100k, 100m Rockpile, and 100m flat, riders of all skill levels can compete. While touring beautiful Sonoma County, riders can look forward to four rest stops overflowing with harvest-themed goodies. Plus, at the end of the tour, riders will be able to partake in a gourmet lunch featuring food and wine pairings.

Burning Ham at Penngrove Park – Penngrove, CA
12:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.; $30 presale, $35per person at the door

Ham, bacon, pork chops. For fans of all things pork as well as beer and wine, save your appetites for the Burning Ham festival. This Sonoma County favorite is an incredibly delicious cook-off featuring just about every pork recipe out there. Come visit this year’s festival to sample and vote on your favorite fare, listen to live music, and of course, sample beer and wine from brewmasters and vintners across the region. There will also be kid-themed activities to keep the whole family entertained.

October 1, 8, 15, and 22, 2015

Fall wine and music series at Gloria Ferrer Vineyards – Sonoma, CA
5:15 p.m. – 7 p.m.; $15 per person

Every Thursday in October, guests can come out and enjoy the sounds of different musicians on the vista terrace at Gloria Ferrer Vineyards. Featuring Jeffrey Fetters, Matt Bolton, and other talented musicians, attendees can relax to the music while sampling wines and snacking on light appetizers.

Italian Rootstock Festival at Santa Rosa Vintners Square – Santa Rosa, CA
1 p.m. – 8 p.m.; Free

Enjoy Italian food, wine, and culture on your next trip to Sonoma County at the Italian Rootstock Festival. With games of bocce, face painting for kids, wood fired pizza, live music, wine, beer, and grape stomping, there is enough to fill the whole day with delicious flavors and fun. Participating wineries include D’Argenzio Winery, Sheldon Wines, Krutz Family Cellars, and Two Shepherds Vineyards. Beer will be supplied by Fogbelt Brewing Company.
