Focus Night at Robert Ferguson Observatory explores the Perseids meteor shower, one of the most famous annual “falling star” displays. Guests learn what causes the Perseids, why they appear each year at the same time, and how a comet’s orbit creates this brilliant but brief celestial event.

This educational program explains different types of meteor showers, why the best viewing happens after midnight, and how to interpret what you see in the night sky. Attendees also discover factors that affect meteor counts and tips to optimize viewing during peak activity later in the week.

Designed as preparation for the Perseids peak, this session does not include live meteor viewing but provides everything needed to fully appreciate the upcoming shower. Attendance is limited to 40 guests for an intimate experience, and the presentation begins promptly at the scheduled start time.
