Sonoma County does luxury the Wine Country way: relaxed, down to earth, and with the highest quality poured into every detail. This on-the-rise wine region may appear rustic, but world-class experiences await you if you know where you look. Check out our guide below for the most exclusive Sonoma experiences.

Lodging / Sonoma

MacArthur Place Inn & Spa

MacArthur place offers classic luxury within walking distance of Sonoma Square. Book one of the two private cottages for the ultimate getaway: each contains a fireplace, hydrotherapy tub, stocked wet bar, original artwork, and a porch overlooking the luscious gardens.

Insider Tip

Order anything made with fruit at the hotel restaurant, SADDLES. The beautiful grounds contain 12 types of fruit trees, and their output is used in the breakfast and dessert offerings when in season.

Landmark Vineyards

If you’ve ever wanted to spend the night in a vineyard, you’re in luck: Landmark Vineyards, a premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir producer in Kenwood, recently remodeled their beautiful Guest Suite to include local artwork and Spanish bathroom tiles. The main draw is the location, however: the bedroom opens right onto a patio surrounded by vineyards, with views of the Mayacamus Mountain Range in the background. The suite books up quickly (as of this writing, it’s booked three months out), but if you’re lucky enough to reserve a night or two, you’ll never see Wine Country the same again.

Insider Tip

A complimentary horse-drawn carriage tour of the property is offered in the summer, so grab a glass of wine and climb aboard.

Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary

Situated in a beautiful and remote location near Freestone, OSMOSIS Day Spa Sanctuary is the ultimate relaxation destination. Enjoy calming tea in their Japanese garden, and treat yourself to their restorative Cedar Enzyme Bath, which in-the-know spa-goers rave about.

Insider Tip

Try the three-hour Deep Detox package, which includes a Lymphatic massage, dry brush exfoliation, OSMOSIS signature tea, Cedar Enzyme Bath, and a brain-balancing Hemi-Sync sound therapy session.

Spas / Sonoma

The Spa at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn

Inside this Spanish Mission-style inn lies one of the only natural thermal hot spring resort spas in the United States. Luxurious spa treatments are centered around the hot springs, and leave guests feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Can’t-miss experiences include relaxing by the cozy fireplace, floating in a Watsu pool, and indulging in the Sonoma Organic Lavender Kur (a bubble bath, botanical wrap, and a massage).

Insider Tip

After a rejuvenating spa experience, stroll to the poolside cafe, The Water Tower, and pick up a fresh salad, fruit smoothie, or signature cocktail to enjoy poolside.
