Orli Shaham, heralded as a first-rate Mozartean by the Chicago Tribune, plays Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, with its emotional mixture of charm, joy and sadness. Music Director Candidate Graeme Jenkins places the popular Mozart Concerto between Haydn’s Symphony No. 100, which travels from Viennese charm to military bombast, and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, a tour de force that speaks of destruction and triumph.
