Sonoma State University’s Department of Music presents an exciting evening of big band jazz at Weill Hall at the Green Music Center. This special event features performances by talented student and professional musicians, delivering an electrifying program.

The night begins with the Rancho Cotate High School Jazz Band, led by SSU alum Dustin Friel, setting the stage with a dynamic opening set. The SSU Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Doug Leibinger, follows with a mix of classic and contemporary jazz by Thad Jones, Billy May, Sammy Nestico, and original pieces by Leibinger. Vocalists Ella Hoffman and Tony Sandoval will also showcase their talents as instrumentalists on bass and piano. As Leibinger puts it, “Two great local big (jazz) bands perform in the amazing Weill Hall.”
