As you begin to explore Napa Valley on Silverado Trail, a welcoming sign appears. It’s an invitation to stop at Luna Vineyards, the first family-owned winery to plant the Italian varietal Pinot Grigio along the eastern hillside at Silverado Trail. Bold and fun, refreshing and bright, Luna wines are warm, accessible, and most of all, as memorable as the experiences they’re paired with.
Luna prides itself on creating unique experiences tailored to visitors and wine club members who we welcome daily at our new tasting lounge. On-site adventures begin here where our estate educators focus on engaging with people at a visceral level, stirring their imagination and engendering interest in Luna long after an initial visit.
We recently launched five new tasting flights that beckon visitors to explore the Luna world and discover what makes our wines so special. They include the Signature Tasting, a flight of our five current releases; a Bianca Tasting that starts with a splash of Bubbles and concludes with a late harvest Pinot Grigio; a Reserve Tasting that includes a sampling of our diverse single vineyard wines; a Group Tasting, designed for groups of 7 or more paired with small bites prepared exclusively by our Estate Chef; and a Wine and Antipasti pairing which features wines, cheeses and charcuterie, complemented by house-made focaccia, nuts, and seasonal fruit preserves.
We aim to surprise and delight, crafting intimate experiences tailored to our guests’ interests. Estate Chef Mercedes Ross, who’s with us on weekends, devises eclectic pairings for our wine tastings. The chef creates artisanal menu items made with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients and our wine. Ross’ farm-to-table “California comfort” style is the ideal approach for Luna’s mix of contemporary meets old world style.
Our gorgeous estate offers magical vistas from just about everywhere you gaze. We hear more than a few “oohs” and “ahhs” from guests who revel and relax in our Tasting Lounge, on the front porch, and canopied veranda—fully immersed in tastings, their senses and emotions heightened. Tours are encouraged to gain an even deeper knowledge of our wines and winemaking process. A casual stroll through the vineyards, a stone’s throw from the tasting room, is a unique compliment to the Luna experience and lets visitors feel the power of the growing experience. The grapes for our Black Label Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay grow within steps of the tasting room.
