Winter is the best time to plant your bare root fruit and ornamental trees to save money and set the foundation for a happy and productive tree. In this workshop, tree expert Robert Kourik will show participants how to select and properly plant a bare root tree and how to care for it the rest of the year. He will cover all areas of sustainable tree care including gopher protection, pruning, composting and these points:</p><p>
  • Why should you cut the fruit tree back to just 12-18 inches high
  • Why don’t you need any compost in the planting hole
  • How to plant on a mound
  • Why summer pruning is often better than winter pruning
